I have been personally and professionally involved in the addictions treatment field for over 30 years. I was offered an internship in 1981 at a Alcohol and Drug treatment facility in Maryland which led to my being hired as an addiction counselor. Over the next several years I continued to grow in my profession which led to my becoming the Executive Director of the facility.

In 1997 I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm that forced me to stop and evaluate my life and my priorities. The surgery went very well However, no one seemed to know how to help me with the post effects of this trauma. I remembered doing yoga back in the 60's so I thought I would give it a try. After beginning to feel somewhat better I began to see a Naturopathic Doctor, who also was a Liscensed Acupuncturist. She helped me to begin to look at the way I was eating, and we began to eliminate foods i might be alrergic to and offered me supplements that my body was lacking, and consistant treatments of acupuncture. I went back to work about after10 months on a part time, but nothing felt the same to me. I felt like God had allowed me survive this trauma for a purpose. So I asked God! What do you want me to do? It seemed to me in time and with much though, I was suppose to bring to my community a place for folks like me who wanted to take charge of their own healthcare and not just take medicine and sit in a chair with no hope of getting any better. After two years back at my position as the Director Of Treatment, I left my position, and along with the support of my loving husband, to open our Holistic Health-Center in our community. Now 12 years later I am happy to say I know it was what I was suppose to do. I have a small counseling practice and I teach lots of yoga and I offer Reiki as a part of my practice. I continue to work as a consultant to the treatment center in Maryland that gave me my first opportunity to develop and to grow into the therapist I am today. I am a compassionate person with a lot of passion in doing what I do to help those who suffer from this debilatating and deadly disease. My ideas and techniques have changed over the last 30 years, but my desire to grow has led me to a better understanding of how we treat those who suffer from the disease of addiction. I am eternally greatful for the opportunities I have been given.
