David Moyer, retired Lt Col, USAF, is an Alaska licensed clinical social worker who served28 yearsas a therapist and mental health administrator in the United States Air Force. Since retiring from the Air Force he has researched and writtenabout innovative solutions to the problem of mental illness. He is the author of Too Good to be True? Nutrients Quiet the Unquiet Brain and is currently working on his second book due to be published early in 2009. Entitled Beyond Mental Illness, this book will explore alternatives to current typologies used to classify mental illness and drug and alcohol abuse.
Some of his published writings include "The Power and Peril of Paradigms" (Lyme Times July 2006), "The Two Minute, 24-hour Mania Manager a promising treatment for acute mania," (Townsend Letter, July 2006.) and "Antibiomania," (Public Health Alert August 2007). Mr. Moyer gives talks andworkshops onnovel approachesfor mental illness and addictions.
He brings aunique perspective as botha clinical social worker and a member of a family touched by bipolar disorder for four generations.
