Merlene Miller, MA, is an addiction educator and author with 25 years of experience in the addiction field, specializing in relapse prevention. She has conducted relapse prevention workshops and retreats as well as staff training for state and national conferences. She developed the Addiction Studies curriculum for Park University in Parkville, Missouri, where she taught for 11 years and at Graceland University in Independence, Missouri, where she was an Associate Professor for six years.
Miller has developed educational materials for addiction treatment centers throughout the United States and provided staff training for numerous treatment centers. She has worked with her husband David in a private treatment center doing family interventions and relapse prevention.
Over the past four years, Miller has worked first with Dr. James Braly, MD, and now with Deborah and Matt Manka as part of LifeStream Solutions to further the awareness, acceptance, and improvement of intravenous-oral nutrient therapy for the treatment of addiction.
Miller is a consultant and director of educational development for Bridging the Gaps, a treatment program utilizing an integrative model in Winchester, Virginia. She has authored or co-authored numerous books including Staying Sober: A Guide to Relapse Prevention (with Terence Gorski) and Learning to Live Again: A Guide to Recovery from Chemical Dependence (with Terence Gorski and David Miller). Merlene's and David's most recent book is Staying Clean and Sober: Complementary and Natural Strategies for Healing the Addicted Brain, which was named the 2005 Book of the Year in the health category by ForeWord Magazine.
